Wicked luncheon in Harrison, NY July 2011

It was great fun playing cocktail music and accompanying the wildly talented Laura Shoop and Kate Fahrner at the Willow Ridge Country Club in Harrison, NY produced by David Millowitz. Laura sang DEFYING GRAVITY and Kate sang POPULAR.  It was a WICKED! Theme party. I also did a medley of Schwartz songs from Hunchback, Pippin, Godspell among others.  From the Broadway production of Wicked:

Murderous Plant arrives in Yorktown 7/22-7-29/11

Steven will be playing keyboards for this cult classic musical under the baton of Chloe Sasson.  Also this month marks the creation of Steven’s 5th Holiday Card. In the mails in November.

Sing for Hope (“Lincoln Center”) 6-28-11

For the second year in a row, Steven got to play one of the over 30 pianos.. This time.. Lincoln Center.. and accompanied by strangers, students, and friends. Quite fun! What was the music? Showtunes, of course (LOL)

Broadway world has created a new database called The Broadway Bookshelf.

The new database features  the most complete listings of Broadway-related books with over 2,000 titles already (and growing by the minute)! Everything is indexed by Hardcover, Paperbacks, Kindle Releases and Audio Books, and further broken down into a wide variety of topics and types, including Biographies, Autobiographies, Books About Specific Productions, Books About Specific Shows, Musical Scores, Books for Actors, Reference Books, Books on Broadway, and Theatre History.

Sally Struthers guest at Vocal Ease from ’04 – 6/24/11

I recently was watching the classic All In The Family episode that dealt with Edith’s 50th birthday.   It reminded of how powerful that show was – the “racy” subject matter, the amazing acting, the incredible comic timing and how all of the actors worked so well with each other.  I was so happy that I have gotten to play for Ms. Jean Stapleton at a benefit many years ago and was able to participate in one of Eva Swan’s VocalEase performances in 2004.
