On December 8 Steven had the good pleasure to be playing piano for Heather Lindell (Jan Spears of Days Of Our Lives) at the Grand Hyatt for a private Christmas party.

On November 26, John Egan (MAX, of the Producers) sang Steven’s arrangement of “Unrequited Lovers March,” at Helen’s. It was part of a benefit with the cast of the Producers.

Steven’s show “Christmas Inn,” last presented in 1990 is now at the Westchester Broadway Theatre through Dec. 23. Music Direction by Stephen Purdy (associate conductor of Rigby tour of “Peter Pan.”). Steven wrote the opening number “Christmas Inn,” with lyrics by Kathy Keating Wheeler.

Steven’s new song, “Christmas With The Inlaws,” (music by Steven Silverstein & lyrics by Drew Fornarola) will debut at Don’t Tell Mama’s as part of the cabaret entitled: The Greatest Holiday Musical … EVER. The shows are at Don’t Tell Mama. Dec. 14 at 8:30 and 11 PM. Dec. 15 at 8:30 and 11 pm. Dec. 16 at 5:30 pm. and Dec. 18 at 9:30 pm. The directors are Michael Ruby and Daniel T. Lavender (collaborators on the upcoming Off Broadway musical “Ethan Frome.”) The music director is Joshua Clayton and the performer is Leah Horowitz. Steven has contributed an arrangement of Walking in the Air (from the famous British animated show, “The Snowman) with Happiness (from the movie “Scrooge”, starring Albert Finney) to John Treacy Egan’s one man show, “Rudolph Unplugged: 40+ years later.” The show is being presented by Ars Nova Nov 19-20 2006 at 8 pm.

Steven most recently participated in a radio podcast on the website MusicalTalk, co-created by Steven’s colleague and friend, Nick Hutson. On October 29, Steven will again serve as music director/arranger for John Egan at St. John and Paul’s. Scheduled to appear with Mr. Egan, will be Christine Pedi, among others.
Steven had the good fortune to work with the advertising talents of “Grey Advertising,” to help rehearse parody lyrics written to “All I Care About is Love,” from the Broadway musical “Chicago.” It will be performed at a retirement party for “Lou.” Good luck Lou!

On October 15, Steven will again serve as music director/arranger for John Treacy Egan’s concert at Westchester Country Club. Joining him will be Patty Goble and Ron Poole. John is currently playing Max Bialystock in The Producers. The combo will include Steven Silverstein on piano, Kerry Meads on drums and Paul Ivory on Bass.

Steven will once again serve as music director for Nancy Barrett’s solo cabaret act (Who’s That Woman) at the 40th annual Dark Shadows Festival. CD’s of Who’s That Woman (Recorded live at the Westbank cafe on 7/11/06), featuring most of the numbers in the solo cabaret act are featured, including Steven’s original composition Once Again. On July 11 2006, in New York City, from 2-4, join Nancy Barrett (Carolyn, from Dark Shadows fame) as she records a live dress rehearsal of her concert: “Who’s That Woman,” (Nancy Barrett), A DVD of the concert will be on sale at the 40th Dark Shadows Convention in August 2006. Steven is the rehearsal pianist for Paper Mill Playhouse’s production of HELLO DOLLY, starring Tovah Feldshush, Walter Charles and Kate Baldwin. It is being directed by Mark S. Hoebee, with music direction by Tom Helm, and choreography by Mia Michaels (of “So You Think You Can Dance”). The show runs from June 9 – July 23 in Millburn New Jersey.

On May 19 at 6 PM at Ripley Grier Studios, Room 16T, 520 8th Avenue , the New York Theatrical Community Chorus will present a world premiere of Steven’s piece, “What’s Your Problem,” written with lyricist Drew Fornarola. Other composers in the concert include Lynn Kurtz, Linda Dowdell, Dan Lipton and Joe Gianono. Check out the flyer for more details.
On April 30 Steven will serve as music director for a reading of the musical, “Sessions”, written by Albert M. Tapper with direction by Steven Petrillo. Included in the cast: Ann Crumb (Aspects of Love), TJ Mannix, and Michael Shelle.

For the 16th year, Steven served as assistant music director for the annual Inner Circle show at the New York Hilton on March 11th. This year Mayor Bloomberg joined the cast of SPAMALOT to poke jabs at the member of the Inner Circle. Edith Asbury, 95, oldest member of the Inner Circle, was featured in an article in the New York Times Metro Section on March 11th.
