At Azaza on 891 First Avenue, Barry Z, presented two of Steven’s songs performed by Bill Ryall (Pictures I Draw, lyric by Michael Colby) and Neva Small (Open Your Eyes, lyric by Michael Colby).

Composer/Arranger for opening number called “Divotion,” performed at “Timeless Divas” with co-hosts Tony Randall and Ben Vereen (who said the song was “very clever.”) Participating in the opening number: Ken Prymus (Cats), Jeff Keller (Phantom), John De Marco (MAC cabaret performer) and Larry Raiken (Follies Revival).
Music director for Bill Ryall, who sang two of my songs, Pictures I Draw and I’ve Given Up. Manhattan Plaza Foundation Thirteenth Anual Benefit on September 8. Also appearing in the concert were Annie Hughes, CArol Woods, Kristine Zbornik, among others.

“Be There” written by Michael Colby and myself has been chosen as a possible theme for the upcoming movie, HEART OF THE BEHOLDER. The movie’s producer Darlene Lieblich (whose worked on numerous TV hits) is planning a soundtrack of songs by unknown and up-and-coming songwriters. Part of her ultimate decision will be based on the ratings given online to the finalist songs Please visit this website and vote for my song! (www.beholder.com).Also completed is a new pop song, recorded by Neva Small at Joe Baker’s Studio, entitled “Open Your Eyes.”

Steven is the music director for a new workshop production of Huck Finn for Theatreworks USA at Chelsea Studios. The composer is Jeff Lunden and bookwriter and lyricist is Art Perlman and director is Tim Vassen.

Steven will for the 3rd time serve as music director for William Ryall’s cabaret act — this time in Orlando Florida. Steven served as music director for NBC Preview of “Will and Grace Rock Opera” with the stars of Will and Grace (Debra Messing, Eric McCormack, Sean Hayes and Megan Mullaly) taped for TV at the Metropolitan Opera.

Its cabaret time! Check out Jessica Bashline (below in rehearsal with Steven). She perofrmed at Danny’s Cabaret room. Steven was her music director. The show was presented at Danny’s Skylight Room located at 346 W. 46th between 8th and 9th avenue in NYC Reservations can be made by calling 212-265-8133. $12 cover charge $10 minimum. She sang Sondheim, Stevie Nicks, Dolly Parton, among others!
